In summary, there are 20 tokenized projects identified in Africa.

Among 20 tokenized projects in Africa, 7 are utility tokens of fintech companies, 4 are cryptocurrency projects, 2 represents decentralized exchange protocols, 2are royalty of software development companies. Others include mining, advertisement, retail, game, and NFT.

Among 20 projects, 7 are on Ethereum blockchain, 6 are on BSC, 2 are launched on Cardano blockchain, 2 are on Stellar blockchain (2 are both on Ethereum and BSC). Other blockchains include Bitcoin, Polygon, Tron, Lite Coin Fork, and Ellcrys.

By analyzing their token price change over time and tokenomics, only Empowa ($EMP) has grown its token price so far. However, we need more time to know the robustness because its launch was only around a year ago.

1. Tokenized Projects in Africa

Figure 1 below shows the tokenized projects in Africa. There are 8 projects from Nigeria, followed by 6 from South Africa. Other projects are from Kenya, Senegal, Zimbabwe, CAR, UAE, UK, and Netherlands.

Figure 2 below presents the type of business of 20 tokenized projects in Africa. Among 20 tokenized projects in Africa, 7 are utility tokens of fintech companies, 4 are cryptocurrency projects, 2 represents decentralized exchange protocols, 2are royalty of software development companies. Others include mining, advertisement, retail, game, and NFT.

Figure 3 below shows the blockchain used by those 20 tokenized projects in Africa. Among 20 projects, 7 are on Ethereum blockchain, 6 are on BSC, 2 are launched on Cardano blockchain, 2 are on Stellar blockchain (2 are both on Ethereum and BSC). Other blockchains include Bitcoin, Polygon, Tron, Lite Coin Fork, and Ellcrys.

2. Price Change over Time

Table 1 and 2 below show the start price of the tokens and the relative current price to the start price of the tokens of the tokenized projects in Africa. Among the projects whose token prices are available on CoinMarketCap, only Empowa ($EMP) has grown its token price so far. However, we need more time to know the robustness because its launch was only around a year ago.

3. Tokenomics

Table 3, 4, and 5 represent tokenomics of each project based on the public sale information: public sale value, public sale supply, public sale price, current price, share of tokens for public sale, and share of tokens for the team. There is quite a bit of variation in public sale supply, price, and current price. Most cases have not been successful in terms of the growth of token price. Since the number of tokenized projects in Africa is still very small, more cases and data are required to examine the driver of the success of the tokenization projects.
